Northridge Picked To Finish Sixth in Big West Preseason Polls

IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge enters the 2007-08 season as an underdog as the Matadors were picked to finish in the lower half of the Big West by the conference's media and coaches at Big West Basketball Media at the Irvine Marriott on Wednesday.

In the Media Poll, the Matadors picked up 76 points to finish sixth while Northridge earned 31 points to also place sixth in the Coaches Poll.

UC Santa Barbara was the preseason favorite to win the Big West as both the Media and Coaches picked the Gauchos to come out on top. Cal Poly was picked to finish second in both polls followed by Cal State Fullerton in the Media Poll. The Titans and Pacific tied for third in the Coaches Poll. UC Irvine rounded out the top five selections in this season's preseason poll.

No Matador player was picked on the six-member Big West Preseason All-Conference as selected by the media.

Cal State Northridge tips off the 2007-08 season with an exhibition game against Cal State Los Angeles next Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7:05 p.m. in The Matadome.
