Tremaine Townsend, Josh Jenkins capture rebound/blocks/assist league honors

Northridge, Calif. - Congratulations to Cal State Northridge junior basketball players Tremaine Townsend and Josh Jenkins.

Until this year, never had a Matador basketball player led the conference in rebounding since the school became an NCAA Division I member in 1990, That all ended this year when Townsend captured the Big West Conference rebound title with a season average of 9.8 rpg. Townsend grabbed ten or more rebounds in 14 games including a season-high 22 at UC Davis. In the last ten games, Townsend averaged 12.5 rebounds per game. Townsend also led the Big West in blocked shots with a schook record 37.

Jenkins became the first Matador player since Markus Carr (2001-02) to win the conference title in assists. Jenkins, who dished out ten or more assists in five games, collected 191 assists (6.45 apg), the third-best mark for a single season in school history.

Several of the 2007-08 members of the Cal State Northridge basketball team will be honored at the annual team banquet which is scheduled for Sunday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Porter Valley Country Club (19216 Porter Valley Drive) in Northridge.

The cost of is $30 per person, $15 for children under 12. To sponsor a table is $250.
