Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Northridge forward Lenny Daniel (6-7, 210, Junior Forward, Richmond, Va), who averaged a double-double in three CSUN victories last week has earned his first career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolade.
Daniel posted averages of 13.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game to help lift the Matadors to victories over Seattle University (1/11/10), UC Riverside (1/14/10) and Cal State Fullerton (1/16/10).
Daniel shot .467 (14-of-30) from the floor and .619 (13-of-21) from the free throw line for the week.
Daniel led the Matadors to a 98-90 triumph over Seattle University (1/11/10) with eleven points and 12 rebounds. Daniel added two blocks and a steal.
Daniel tallied ten points, eight rebounds and a career-high tying five blocks to spur the Matadors to a 64-50 home victory over UC Riverside (1/14/10). The five swats was one short of the single-game school record.
The Matadors picked up their first road win of 2009-10 with a 78-72 outcome against Cal State Fullerton (1/16/10). Daniel recorded his second double-double of the week - and fifth of the season - with a team-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Daniel made 7-of-12 shots from the floor and 6-of-8 at the foul line to pace CSUN.
Daniel led the Matadors in rebounding in each game and played 105 out of 120 minutes in the three games.
