Stephen Maxwell Named Big West Player of the Week

Irvine, Calif. – Stephen Maxwell … Congratulations … Well Deserved !!!

A dominating effort last week from Maxwell spurred Cal State Northridge to a 2-0 conference start for the first time since 2007-08.

For his efforts, Maxwell has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week.

Maxwell averaged 25.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting .750 (18-for-24) from the field as the Matadors dispatched UC Davis (89-77) and Hawai'i (79-78) at home.

Maxwell recorded his sixth and seventh 20-point games of the season to help CSUN to the two wins. Maxwell's 26 points against UC Davis were two short of his season-high. Maxwell made all ten free throw attempts to tie a single game school record for three throw percentage (1,000).

Against the Rainbow Warriors, Maxwell notched 24 points and ten rebounds for his eighth double-double of the year and 22nd of his career. He connected on 10-of-14 shots from the field and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Maxwell, who has shot 50 percent or better in seven straight games, is hitting at .613 clip for the season. That mark is currently the third-best effort for a single season at Cal State Northridge.
