Boston, Ma. – The post-season honors for Stephan Hicks just keep pouring in.
Hicks, who led the Matadors basketball team in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg) during the 2011-12 season, has been named to the 2012 Mid-Major Freshmen All-American team by collegeinsider.com.
Hicks is one of 25 freshmen named to the All-America team. The list includes only four players (including Stephan Hicks) from the West Coast. That list includes Johnny Dee (San Diego), Dylan Garrity (Sacramento State) and Brad Waldow (St. Mary's).
Hicks, during the post-season, was voted Big West Freshman of the Year (the second Matador in the program's history to earn top freshman honors) and All-Big West Honorable Mention.
Not only did Hicks lead the team in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg) in 2011-12, Hicks led the Matadors in points scored (442 points), field goals (136), free throws (135), rebounds (198) and minutes (840).
Hicks led the team with 23 double-figure scoring games and six double-figure rebound games. Hicks led CSUN in scoring and rebounding on 16 and 17 occasions, respectively.
His best scoring effort was a 26-point game at Cal State Bakersfield (1/28/12). Hicks' best rebounding effort was 17-rebounds at Hawai'i (11/14/11).
Hicks, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard/forward, played in all 28 games for Cal State Northridge in 2011-12, including 23 as a starter.
