CSUN Baseball/Softball Summer Report #2

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - In their second report of the summer, Athletic Media Relations staff members Nick Bocanegra, Lauren Olivas, and Jaclyn Rymer provide the latest statistics and information pertaining to Softball Assistant Coach Kia Fennell and a number of student-athletes from the Matador baseball team as they compete on a variety of teams across the country.
Left-Handed Pitcher, USSSA Pride - National Pro Fastpitch
Fennel appeared in five games this past week, and stole a base. On the mound, she pitched a shutout inning on June 17 in a 2-0 loss to the Rockford Thunder, retiring three of four batters faced.
First Baseman, Bourne Braves - Cape Cod League
D'Anna will be playing with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League this summer. D'Anna is currently recuperating from an injury that prematurely ended his 2009 season with the Matadors.
Right-Handed Pitcher, Humboldt Crabs - West Coast League
DeBoo has lowered his ERA last week to 0.48 and picked up another win. In 18.1 total innings pitched, DeBoo is now 2-0 with ten strikeouts, holding his opponents to a paltry .154 batting average.
Right-Handed Pitcher, Palm Springs Power - Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association
Longpre has pitched a total of 18 innings this summer, possessing a 3-0 record and a team-high three saves. In the thirteen games that he has appeared in, the right-hander has only allowed a total of vie hits to his opponents.
Pitcher/First Baseman, San Luis Obispo Blues - Sierra Baseball League
In two appearances on the mound, Peterson has only allowed one hit, striking out two batters this summer.
Second Baseman, Wareham Gatemen - Cape Cod League
Through ten games with Wareham, Pineda is hitting .194 with six runs scored, seven hits, three RBIs and four walks. On June 28, Pineda helped contribute to the Gatemen's 10-2 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps with a productive 1-for-3 game. In that contest, the second baseman scored two runs, walked twice, and drove in two RBIs.
Second Baseman, Sedalia Bombers - M.I.N.K League
With 15 hits to his collection, Reed's batting average has increased to .349. In the past week, Reed has also managed to steal a base and drive in a RBI for the Bombers. With a 12-4 record crafted so far, the Bombers have been playing solid baseball; a record crafted with the performance of Reed during the past weeks.
Outfielder, Edenton Steamers - Coastal Plain League
In the past week the Steamers manage to pick up another three wins. Swanson continues to dominate at the plate for Edenton as he leads the team with a .352 batting average. In the past week, Swanson has roped another double, knocked in another RBI, and has stolen another base, as the Steamers collected another three victories. Having successfully stolen 14 bases in 17 attempts last season, Swanson now has now swiped five bags this year.
Shortstop, San Luis Obispo Rattlers - California Collegiate League
In his 11 games played this season, Vickers has a total of nineteen assists while committing zero errors. At the plate, the shortstop has a collective total of four hits, one double, one RBI, and has scored on four occasions this summer.
