NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Matador Baseball Field will host the 2010 Alumni Barbecue and Social this Saturday afternoon as players from the past will be able to interact with the members of the 2010 roster.
Family members are welcome to attend the day's festivities, a schedule of events that will begin at 12 p.m. when this year's team will take to the field for batting and infield/outfield practice.
At 1 p.m. all alumni will have an opportunity to take the field for batting practice of their own to not only show of their skills for the current roster of players, but also reminisce with one another about their respective collegiate careers as a Matador.
An alumni home run derby will commence thirty minutes later as three different teams will organize and compete to see who still has a little "pop" left in their bat. Players who graduated during the 1960's and '70's will swing for the fences measured at 250 from home plate, Matadors who graduated in the '80's will swing at a fence located 300 feet away, while any Matador who graduated from 1990-2009 will have to hit a home run over the wall that is currently in use at Matador Field.
Once everyone has an opportunity to out-muscle one another, a picnic-style barbecue will be available for everyone in attendance for free.
All Matadors and family members who are planning on attending the event should park in Lot E6 located on the corner of Halsted Street and Lindley Avenue. Parking is $6.
