FULLERTON, Calif. - Unlike their previous two games, the Cal State Northridge (29-27, 9-15 BWC) Matadors were the ones to jump out to an early lead with their three runs scored in the top of the third inning. However, the #8-ranked Cal State Fullerton Titans (41-15, 21-3 BWC) scored fifteen unanswered runs to sweep the weekend series as CSUN was defeated in their season finale by a score of 15-4.

Even though the 2010 season did not finish in the manner the Matadors would have liked, CSUN still finished the season with victories against a number of top-ranked teams, giving the program its first winning season since the 2002 season.

Leading off the top-half of the third inning with back-to-back-to-back singles by Dominic Piazza, Justin DeMarco, and Ridge Carpenter, the Matadors would score the first run of the game on Carpenter's base hit, driving in Piazza to take an early 1-0 lead.

TS Reed would add another two runs by hitting his tenth double of the season, a shot that skipped down the line into the corner in left field, enabling DeMarco and Carpenter to score.

The Northridge advantage would not last long though as Fullerton responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the same inning to even the game at three.

With the crowd uneasy, and the team trailing for the first time in the series after watching CSUN put a three on the scoreboard, the Titan third would become the first of five consecutive innings where the home team would score at least one run.

Three of the first five Titan runs were scored via the long ball, two pitches that were the only difference in the game until Fullerton sent all nine batters to the plate in the fifth.

From that point on, the Titans would extend their lead little by little, eventually taking a 15-3 lead into the latter innings of the game.

Right-fielder C.J. Belanger ended his career on a positive note when his single to center field drove in teammate teammate Dominic D'Anna, who originally reached base on his single down the left-field line, for CSUN's fourth run of the game, and final RBI of the season.

The nine Big West wins earned by the 2010 squad are the highest total of conference victories earned by Northridge since the 2002 season.
