Box Score

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge (23-32, 7-16) dropped a 7-2 decision to UC Davis (34-21, 13-10) Saturday, the result of five first-inning scores for the Aggies. Senior right hander Phil Hann pitched admirably in defeat and junior John Parham was 3-for-3 to lead the offense.

The UC Davis offense found its stride quickly, sending nine men to the plat and scoring five runs on five hits in the top of the first inning. Matt Dempsey and Ryan Scoma each had two-run two baggers in the frame.

Northridge was quiet in the first but chipped away in the second, getting an RBI single from Jason Dabbs and a run scoring fielder's choice from TS Reed to narrow the Aggie lead to three.

After the disastrous first, Hann settled into a groove through the middle innings. The senior faced more than three men just once between the second and seventh and surrendered and gave up just three hits through those six. The Ags got back to it in the eighth with a pair of runs that expanded their lead to five.

A senior, the outing was the last of an outstanding career for Hann.

The Northridge bats never came back to life, and they left 11 on the base paths in the losing effort.

Northridge returns to action Sunday for the finale of their current set and the 2008 season. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., but senior day festivities will start 15 minutes prior.

Come out and honor our four departing seniors before the Matadors take on UC Davis.
