HATTIESBURG, Miss. - John Parham led the way for the Northridge (9-7) offense, but there were not enough followers for the Matadors in Sunday's 6-2 loss to Southern Miss (10-6). Edwin Quirarte tossed three and two third scoreless innings in the Northridge relief effort.
Drew Muren was making his second start for the Matadors, who trailed after the first by a pair fo runs. A run in the third would prove to be the game-winner for the Golden Eagles.
In the fourth, Northirdge got on the board for the first time when John Parham's lead off single turned into a score on Richard Cates' sacrifice fly. It was Parham again in the sixth, smacking another leadoff single and coming around on a sac fly from C.J. Belanger.
The Matadors return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Loyola Marymount for the first of a four-game set that spans the week.
