Shawn Wilyman finished his second and final season at Northridge and appeared in eight games. He made one start in 2011, striking out five batters in 6.2 innings of work and threw 0.2 innings vs. Seattle University (2/19 Gm. 1). He pitched 0.1 innings vs. New Mexico State (3/3), pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out one hitter in the win over San Diego State (3/8). He made his first start and received no decision against Lafayette (3/12 Gm. 2), pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two hitters at LMU (3/26), and threw a scoreless ninth inning against UC Riverside (5/14). For his career, Wilyman appeared in 27 games, starting eight, compiled a 1-4 record with a 7.35 ERA, 36 strikeouts and 30 walks.
Shawn Wilyman started in seven of the 19 games he appeared in during his first season as a Matador and finished with a 1-4 record and 6.58 ERA. In his 53.1 innings on the mound, Wilyman fanned 31 batters. He struckout one batter in his first start for Northridge at UCLA (2/21), threw 5.2 innings, fanned two batters, and only allowed four hits vs. Pepperdine (2/28), and only allowed four hits and struck out four batters in his 6.2 innings pitched vs. Connecticut (3/7). Wilyman fanned four of the eight batters faced vs. LMU (3/14), struck out four batters for the third consecutive game in his first victory as a Matador at Seattle (3/20, Gm. 2), and tied his career highs in his 7.0 inning, four strikeout performance at Pepperdine (4/6). He pitched two shutout innings vs. SDSU (4/13), struck out two in 2.0 innings of work at UC Santa Barbara (5/9), and did not allow a hit in his one inning pitched at UC Riverside (5/14). He did not allow a hit in his 2.0 innings on the mound at UC Riverside (5/16), allowed only one earned run in his 2.0 innings on the mound at UNLV (5/18), and threw 2.0 innings in his seventh start of the season vs. San Diego (5/24). Wilyman threw one inning and struck out a batter at Cal State Fullerton (5/29).
Wilyman attended Taft College for two years and graduated in 2009 with a 3.28 GPA. He earned his A.A. Degree in liberal arts. He was a starter for coach Vince Miaocco during his two seasons and was a member of the Northern California All-Star team in the Fall of '08, and was elected to the All-Conference second team in '09.

Wilyman graduated in 2007 with a 3.0 GPA and competed as a right-handed pitcher and third baseman for the baseball team and was a center for the hockey team from 2005-07. He lettered all three seasons for both sports and was elected team captain for both teams during his junior and senior seasons. He was named Most Valuable Player on his baseball team in '06 and his hockey team in '07 and was a member of the '06 baseball and '05 hockey teams that won league championships.
