April 13, 2014 CSUN Loses Series Finale at UC Irvine 10-2 Michael Livingston went 2-for-3 with a triple and Louis Cohen pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief but the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-22, 2-7 Big West) were defeated 10-2 by the UC Irvine Anteaters (24-11, 8-1 Big West) in a Big West Conference game on Sunday afternoon at Anteater Ballpark. The Anteaters scored the final eight runs of the game after the Matadors tied the score at two runs apiece early on.
April 12, 2014 UC Irvine Slips Past CSUN 5-4 Despite scoring three late runs for the second game in a row, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-21, 2-6 Big West) were edged by the UC Irvine Anteaters (23-11, 7-1 Big West) 5-4 in a Big West Conference game Saturday afternoon at Anteater Ballpark. The Matadors put up three runs in the eighth inning and had the tying run in scoring position in the ninth before the game was over.
April 11, 2014 Ninth-Inning Rally Falls Just Short in 7-5 Loss at UC Irvine A three-run rally in the ninth inning was nearly enough, but the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-20, 2-5 Big West) were defeated by the UC Irvine Anteaters (22-11, 6-1 Big West) 7-5 on Friday night at Anteater Ballpark in a game televised by ESPN3. The Matadors trailed by five runs going into their final at-bats and had the tying run on first base when UC Irvine was finally able to escape with the win.
April 8, 2014 CSUN Falls in Midweek Game at Fresno State 8-2 A six-run first inning spelled the difference as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-19) were defeated 8-2 by the Fresno State Bulldogs (18-15) on Tuesday night at Beiden Field. The Bulldogs scored five unearned runs after an early error and the Matadors were unable to overcome the deficit.
April 7, 2014 Matadors To Visit Fresno State, Face UC Irvine on ESPN3 The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue their seven-game road trip this week with games at Fresno State and UC Irvine. The Matadors will take on the Bulldogs for the first time since 2007 when the teams meet on Tuesday night before heading to Orange County to battle the Anteaters in a Big West Conference series. The opener at UC Irvine on Friday, April 11, will also be streamed live online by ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
April 6, 2014 Balkan's Career Day Leads to 7-1 Win at UC Riverside Behind a career day for senior Brett Balkan, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-8, 2-4 Big West) led start-to-finish in a 7-1 win over the UC Riverside Highlanders (14-13, 3-3 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at the Riverside Sports Complex. Balkan set a career high with three hits and drove in two runs in a convincing victory for the Matadors.
April 5, 2014 Matadors Drop Second Game at UC Riverside 6-2 Four runs over the last three innings were too much to overcome as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-18, 1-4) dropped the second game of a Big West series against the UC Riverside Highlanders (14-12, 3-2) on Saturday night at the Riverside Sports Complex. The Matadors were able to cut into the lead on a pair of occasions but the Highlanders responded each time to claim the series heading into Sunday’s finale.
April 4, 2014 CSUN Topped in Opener at UC Riverside 4-2 Ranny Lowe recorded three hits and Nicolas Osuna reached base four times, but the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-17, 1-3 Big West) were defeated by the UC Riverside Highlanders (13-12, 2-2 Big West) in a Big West Conference game on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex. The Matadors scored two runs in the first inning but the Highlanders whittled away the lead and rallied for the win.
April 3, 2014 Matadors Battle Inland Empire Foe UC Riverside This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors open a seven-game road trip this week when the team heads to the Inland Empire to take on the UC Riverside Highlanders. Both teams are 1-2 in the Big West Conference after winning games on Sunday and look to move up the standings in the early season showdown this weekend. Last year, the Matadors swept all three games from the Highlanders at Matador Field. The two sides will open up the series this Friday, April 4, at 6 p.m. at the Riverside Sports Complex.
March 30, 2014 Matadors Storm Back for 6-5 Win over Long Beach State After trailing by three runs in the middle innings, Cal State Northridge rallied to score four unanswered and beat Long Beach State 6-5 on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Chester Pak had four hits and Nicolas Osuna drove in a pair of runs as the Matadors (12-16, 1-2 Big West) salvaged a game in the series against the Dirtbags (13-13, 2-1 Big West).
March 29, 2014 CSUN Edged By Long Beach State 4-3, Hiegert Honored Before Game A late rally spelled the difference as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-16, 0-2 Big West) were defeated by the Long Beach State Dirtbags (13-12, 2-0) 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Prior to the game, the Matadors honored legendary head coach and athletic director Bob Hiegert by retiring his uniform number in an on-field ceremony.
March 28, 2014 Matadors Defeated 10-5 by Long Beach State in Big West Opener An early charge for Long Beach State was too much to overcome as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-15, 0-1) were defeated 10-5 by the Dirtbags (12-12, 1-0) in the Big West Conference opener for both teams on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors put together a five-run fifth inning but could not rally from seven down to defeat the Dirtbags.

March 27, 2014 Matadors Host Dirtbags in Big West Conference Opener The Cal State Northridge Matadors will open up another season of Big West Conference action when they take on the Long Beach State Dirtbags in a three-game series at Matador Field this weekend. The series will be the final three games before an extended road trip for the Matadors, who have played eight of their last nine games at home. The Matadors have won their last three games by a combined four runs and have played more games decided by two runs or fewer than any other team in the country.
March 25, 2014 CSUN Rallies to Overcome Pepperdine 4-2 After falling behind early, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-14) used a pair of two-out rallies to earn a 4-2 win against the Pepperdine Waves (17-7) on Tuesday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium. Brett Balkan drove in two runs and Ranny Lowe had an RBI double in his return to Malibu as the Matadors won their third consecutive game.

March 24, 2014 Matadors Hold Off Washington State in 2-1 Win In a game that was rescheduled from February due to rain, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (10-14) were able to shut down the Washington State Cougars (9-12) 2-1 on Monday afternoon at Matador Field. Dylan Alexander tripled in a run and scored on a William Colantono single in the second inning to provide all of the offense the Matadors needed in the contest.
March 23, 2014 Matadors to Retire Former Head Coach, Athletics Director Bob Hiegert’s Number at Matador Field Former Cal State Northridge baseball head coach and athletic director Bob Hiegert, a legend in the San Fernando Valley and among his peers at the national level, will have his number retired by the program he led to two NCAA Division II National Championships. The Matadors will celebrate Coach Hiegert’s success on the diamond and the foundation he laid for the team and athletics department when they host the Long Beach State Dirtbags on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1 p.m.
March 20, 2014 CSUN to Play Four Games on ESPN3 in 2014 The Cal State Northridge baseball program will compete in four games that will be broadcast worldwide on ESPN3, the Big West Conference announced Wednesday. The Matadors will take on both the UC Irvine Anteaters and Cal State Fullerton Titans in road games during the conference season.
March 19, 2014 Matadors Literal in 1-0 Walk Off Over Stony Brook A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth provided the only run in the game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (9-14) picked up a 1-0 shutout over the Stony Brook Seawolves (6-9) on Wednesday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors had a perfect game going into the seventh and Nicolas Osuna drew a walk with two outs in the ninth to give the home side the victory.
March 18, 2014 Late Rally Incomplete in 3-2 Loss to Bakersfield Cal State Northridge got the potential winning run on base in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to cash in as the Matadors (8-14) were defeated 3-2 by the Bakersfield Roadrunners (8-11) on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. Bakersfield scored three early runs and were able to hold off CSUN despite having the final 14 batters of the game set down in order.
March 17, 2014 CSUN Takes on Bakersfield, Stony Brook in Midweek Games The Cal State Northridge Matadors will play a pair of midweek games this week when Bakersfield and Stony Brook visit Matador Field. After winning one of three games against West Virginia over the weekend, the Matadors remain at home for two contests before having the weekend off. CSUN starts the week on Tuesday, March 18, with an afternoon game against the CSUB Roadrunners and will face the Stony Brook Seawolves the next day.
March 15, 2014 Matadors Suffer 14-11 Loss to West Virginia On a warm afternoon that featured 25 runs and 36 hits, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (8-13) were edged 14-11 by the West Virginia Mountaineers (10-6) on Saturday at Matador Field. Seven Matadors had multiple hits in the game, led by Chester Pak’s four.
March 14, 2014 Matadors Defeat West Virginia 4-2, Even Series Behind three hits from Ryan Raslowsky and another quality start from Brycen Rutherford, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (8-12) defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (9-6) 4-2 on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors jumped ahead early with three runs in the first three innings and never looked back.
March 13, 2014 Rally Falls Short in 5-4 Loss to West Virginia Despite rallying for two runs over the final three innings the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-12) could not complete the comback against the West Virginia Mountaineers (9-5), falling 5-4 on Thursday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors got the potential tying run to third base in the bottom of the ninth before the Mountaineers escaped with the win.
March 12, 2014 CSUN Hosts West Virginia This Week, Adds Game Vs. WSU The Cal State Northridge Matadors welcome the West Virginia Mountaineers for the first three-game series between the two programs in history. While the Matadors lead the series with West Virginia 1-0, that lone game was played at a neutral site in 2000.
March 11, 2014 Early Runs the Difference in 12-0 Loss to SDSU A four-run first inning provided all the runs needed in the game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-11) were defeated 12-0 by the San Diego State Aztecs (12-4) on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors collected seven hits in the game but were unable to break through for a run, leaving eight runners on base on the day.

March 10, 2014 Salas' Gem Stops Skid, CSUN Tops UVU 7-1 Senior left-handed pitcher John Salas threw a complete game and allowed just four hits as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-10) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-1 win over Utah Valley (4-12) on Monday afternoon at Matador Field. It was the third career complete game for Salas, who was also the last pitcher to go the distance for the Matadors last season.
March 9, 2014 CSUN Falls in 13 Innings at #20 Sam Houston State 3-2 For the second time this week the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-10) were defeated in 13 innings, this time by a score of 3-2 at #20 Sam Houston State (13-3) on Sunday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium. Despite nine innings on the mound for Jordan Johnson, the Matadors could not rally for the lead after falling behind two runs early.
March 8, 2014 Matadors Narrowly Edged by #20 Bearkats 2-1 Cal State Northridge was the better team for eight innings on Saturday, but a first-inning home run for No. 20 Sam Houston State led the Bearkats (12-3) to a 2-1 win over the Matadors (6-9) at Don Sanders Stadium. After allowing a two-run home run early, the Matadors rallied to score a run in the sixth but were unable to find the equalizer late.
March 7, 2014 CSUN Falls in Opener at #20 Sam Houston State, Saturday Moved to 10 A.M. (PT) In the opener of their second series outside of California this season, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-8) fell 6-0 to the No. 20 Sam Houston State Bearkats (11-3) on Friday evening at Don Sanders Stadium. Due to the threat of rain in the weekend forecast, Saturday's game between CSUN and SHSU has been moved up to a 10 a.m. PT (12 p.m. CT) start.
March 5, 2014 Matadors Lose in Marathon at LMU 12-11 In a game that took five hours and 42 minutes to complete and featured 42 players, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-7) were edged 12-11 in 13 innings by the Loyola Marymount University Lions (6-7) on Wednesday night at Page Stadium. The game was the first played under the lights between the Matadors and the Lions in a series that started in 1960.
March 4, 2014 Errors Costly in CSUN's 3-1 Loss at CSU Bakersfield A sixth-inning rally stood up as the difference in the game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-6) fell 3-1 at the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (6-6) on Tuesday night at Hardt Field. After taking the lead in the top of the first, the Matadors could not hold the lead and were done in by a pair of errors that led to two unearned runs.
March 4, 2014 Matadors Saddened by Passing of Phil Munroe, First Head Coach of CSUN Baseball Cal State Northridge Athletics is saddened by the news that Phil Munroe, passed away over the weekend at the age of 91. Munroe was the first head coach of the San Fernando Valley State College baseball program, guiding the Matadors for three seasons from 1959 to 1961.
March 3, 2014 Matadors Travel to CSUB, LMU in Midweek Contests The Cal State Northridge Matadors hit the road for their next five games, starting with midweek clashes at CSU Bakersfield and Loyola Marymount University. The Matadors enter the week at 6-5 after taking two out of three from Washington State at Matador Field over the weekend. This week, CSUN will renew rivalries with a pair of opponents in the Roadrunners and Lions. The action gets started on Tuesday, March 4, at Hardt Field in Bakersfield. The next night, the Matadors will travel to Page Stadium to take on Loyola Marymount under the lights for the first time in program history.
March 2, 2014 History Witnessed as CSUN Splits Doubleheader with Washington State While the most exciting thing about Sunday's doubleheader between Cal State Northridge and Washington State may be the fact that the games survived the weekend's weather, a bit of history was witnessed as the Matadors (6-5) and Cougars (2-7) each picked up 1-0 wins at Matador Field. The doubleheader represented the first time Cal State Northridge had been involved in consecutive 1-0 contests since 1972 when the Matadors lost at Cal Poly before defeating Cal Lutheran on the road.
March 1, 2014 Mother Nature Takes 2-1 Series Lead on CSUN Baseball For the second time in as many days, hard-hitting Mother Nature slugged her way to a victory at Matador Field, postponing the scheduled game between Cal State Northridge and Washington State. After the teams played the series opener on Thursday afternoon, both Friday's and Saturday's games were called off due to heavy rain.
February 28, 2014 Friday Game with Washington State Cancelled Due to heavy rain in the San Fernando Valley, Friday's baseball game (Feb. 28) between Cal State Northridge and Washington State has been cancelled. The two programs are still scheduled to play on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. as well as on Sunday, March 2, at 1 p.m.
February 27, 2014 Murphy, Matadors Walk Off in 3-2 Win Over Washington State Junior catcher Nick Murphy singled in center fielder Ranny Lowe with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (5-4) topped the Washington State Cougars (1-6) 3-2 on Thursday afternoon at Matador Field. All five runs in the game were scored across the final three innings as the Matadors earned their second extra-inning win of the season and their first walk-off victory since April 28, 2013 against Pacific.
February 27, 2014 UPDATE (2/27) - Baseball Doubleheader Changed to Single Game at Noon Due to the threat of rain in Southern California this weekend, the schedule for Cal State Northridge Baseball's series against Washington State has been modified. Rather than playing one game each day from Thursday through Sunday, the teams will now open the weekend with a doubleheader on Thursday, Feb. 27.
February 25, 2014 Matadors Welcome Washington State For Four-Game Series The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue their homestand this week with four games against the Washington State Cougars out of the Pac-12 Conference. The Matadors went 2-3 across five games last week against then-No. 12 UCLA and Seattle University. CSUN took two of the four games against the Redhawks at Matador Field, including both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday. This week, the Matadors and Cougars will do battle in the San Fernando Valley. The series is scheduled to span four days, from Thursday, Feb. 27, to Sunday, March 2.
February 23, 2014 Matadors Edged By Seattle 4-2 in Series Finale Cal State Northridge (2-2) completed the weekend with a series split against Seattle University (5-3) after the Matadors were defeated by the Redhawks 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Seattle scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away in the game.
February 22, 2014 CSUN Sweeps Doubleheader Slugfest From Seattle After recording 27 hits through the first five games of the season, the Cal State Northridge offense erupted for 31 in two games as the Matadors (4-3) swept the Seattle University Redhawks (4-3) in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. CSUN took the first game by a convincing 14-4 margin and won the second contest 4-3.
February 21, 2014 CSUN Drops 4-2 Decision to Seattle University Despite being locked into a defensive battle for much of the afternoon, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-3) were defeated by the Seattle University Redhawks (4-1) by a score of 4-2 on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors had three players record at least one hit but a late home run for Seattle stood up as the difference in the game.
February 19, 2014 CSUN Baseball Recruiting Kobe Bryant……To Throw Out First Pitch Talk surfaced early Wednesday morning that the Cal State Northridge baseball team is courting Los Angeles Lakers All-Star and future NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at an upcoming baseball series.
February 18, 2014 Matadors Defeated by No. 12 UCLA 7-1 A late-inning charge was the deciding factor as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-2) were defeated by the No. 12 UCLA Bruins (3-1) 7-1 on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins used a five-run eighth inning to pull away in the late stages of the game.
February 17, 2014 Matadors Visit No. 12 UCLA, Host Seattle U This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors return to California after taking a three-game series at Bethune-Cookman last week. The Matadors are winners of their last two after dropping a 2-1 decision on Opening Day. CSUN limited the Wildcats to just three runs in three games and boast a team ERA of 0.96 going into games this week against No. 12 UCLA and Seattle University. All three programs have winning records going into the week. CSUN will begin its week at Jackie Robinson Stadium where the Matadors had a 4-1 win last season.
February 16, 2014 Matadors Shut Out Bethune-Cookman 2-0, Take Opening Series In a series that featured a pitchers duel in each game, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-1) were able to come away with the series finale 2-0 over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Although they scored just five runs over the weekend, the Matadors boasted a team ERA of 0.96 to help CSUN to its first road series win in the Eastern Time Zone in school history.
February 15, 2014 Moore Wins First Career Game as CSUN Tops Bethune-Cookman in Extras In a low-scoring affair that presented few opportunities for runs, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-1) defeated the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (1-1) 2-1 in 11 innings on Saturday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The win was the first for CSUN head coach Greg Moore in his career.
February 14, 2014 Matadors Fall in Season Opener at Bethune-Cookman 2-1 In a pitcher's duel that saw very little offense, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (0-1) were edged by the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats (1-0) by a score of 2-1 on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Despite a combined 10 hits and two errors, the game also saw 17 strikeouts and 14 runners left on base between the two teams.
February 11, 2014 Matadors Open 2014 Season at Bethune-Cookman The Cal State Northridge Matadors open up their 56th season on the diamond when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a Valentine’s Day showdown at Bethune-Cookman University. The Matadors begin a new era in 2014 under the helm of first-year head coach Greg Moore and are looking to build off a 2013 campaign that saw them rise to a fourth-place finish in the Big West Conference. All-Big West Honorable Mentions Jerry Keel and Alexis Mercado return for Cal State Northridge and look to play key roles in the Matadors’ push for their first postseason birth since 2002.

February 5, 2014 Matadors Tabbed Eighth in Preseason Big West Coaches Poll Although the Matadors finished the 2013 season with a 15-12 conference record, the Cal State Northridge baseball team was picked to finish eighth in 2014 in the preseason poll of the league's head coaches, the Big West Conference office announced last week. The Matadors were also chosen to finish eighth last season, but a strong run in conference play saw them end the year in a tie for fourth.
February 3, 2014 Baseball Alumni Weekend Allows Past and Present to Build for the Future This past weekend members of the 2014 Cal State Northridge baseball team played host to the Matadors that came before them, using the time to celebrate the rich history of the program and focus their sights on delivering another championship to the San Fernando Valley.

September 9, 2013 Jordon Twohig Added to Baseball Coaching Staff Jordon Twohig has officially been added to the Cal State Northridge baseball coaching staff, head coach Greg Moore announced Monday. Twohig comes to Northridge after spending the last three seasons at the University of Washington. At CSUN, Twohig will serve as the Matadors recruiting coordinator, as well as running the team’s offense. In addition, Twohig will coach the outfielders and instruct CSUN’s base runners.

June 24, 2013 Former Matadors Attl, Williams Meet in Gulf Coast League After a season in which the Cal State Northridge Matadors finished in a tie for fourth in the Big West Conference, both junior outfielder Miles Williams and senior shortstop Kyle Attl took the step to the professional ranks. Williams, a 15th-round draft choice by the Miami Marlins, and Attl, a rookie free agent signed by the Washington Nationals, have each been assigned to their respective organizations' team in the Gulf Coast League.

May 24, 2013 CSUN Drops Second Game to No. 3 Titans 6-4 A pair of late runs were the difference in the game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-25, 15-11 Big West) were defeated by the No. 3 Cal State Fullerton Titans (47-8, 22-4 Big West) 6-4 on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. The two teams were tied going to the eighth inning before a Fullerton home run and an insurance run in the ninth sealed the game.
May 23, 2013 Northridge Edged by No. 3 Cal State Fullerton 5-2 Early offense gave way to superior pitching for much of the game as the third-ranked Cal State Fullerton Titans (46-8, 21-4 Big West) defeated the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-24, 15-10 Big West) 5-2 on Thursday afternoon at Matador Field. The teams combined for 15 hits in the game but just five after the third inning as the defense took over for both sides.
May 22, 2013 CSUN Hosts No. 3 Cal State Fullerton in Senior Weekend Series The Cal State Northridge Matadors will play their final three-game series of the regular season this week when the No. 3 Cal State Fullerton Titans come to town on Thursday, May 23. The Titans wrapped up their fourth consecutive Big West Conference title last weekend and will participate in a postseason regional. The Matadors are currently tied for second in the conference and looking to take a series from the Titans to end the season.

A late-inning run for the Matadors was unable to spark a rally and the Mustangs scored two runs in the eighth to seal the game.

Eight different Matadors recorded a hit and the pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts but a big inning early spelled the difference in the game.

The Mustangs sit five games back of first but are still in striking distance as both teams look to improve their standing and prepare for potential at-large selections to the NCAA Tournament.

May 11, 2013 CSUN's Rally Not Enough in 6-2 Loss to UCSB Three errors proved too costly for Cal State Northridge as the Matadors (30-20, 14-6 Big West) dropped the second game of its series with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (27-20, 12-8 Big West) 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Northridge had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to push runs across, losing its second straight game for the first time since March 29-30 at Long Beach State.
May 10, 2013 Matadors Fall Late in 6-1 Loss to UC Santa Barbara Despite another strong outing by Jerry Keel, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-19, 14-5 Big West) fell late in a 6-1 loss to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (26-20, 11-8 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. Keel pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and Nathan Ring launched a solo home run in the ninth but the Gauchos scored six runs in the final inning for the victory.
May 9, 2013 Race for Big West Title Heats Up This Week as CSUN Hosts UCSB Nine games remain in the Big West Conference season. Cal State Northridge is currently on an eight-game winning streak, the team’s longest since 2002, and the Matadors have won their last nine conference games dating back to April 19. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos visit Matador Field this weekend for three games with both side looking for an important series victory to improve their postseason resumes. Fans are encouraged to get to the field early this weekend to find parking close to the ballpark as the Big West Track and Field Championships are also being held on campus on Friday and Saturday.
May 7, 2013 Matadors Stun No. 8 UCLA 4-1 After jumping out to an early lead, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-18) clamped down defensively to upset the No. 8 UCLA Bruins (31-14) 4-1 on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Matadors scored three runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the eighth to earn their first win against UCLA since 2008.

The two programs have history with each other on the diamond as both were members of the Western Athletic Conference from 1993-96 before Northridge exited the league in 1997.

April 8, 2013 CSUN Walks Off in 8-7 Comeback Win over Washington Cal State Northridge trailed by as many as six runs but Chester Pak delivered a walk-off single to right center as the Matadors (17-15) rallied for an 8-7 win over the Washington Huskies (8-22) on Monday afternoon at Matador Field. On a day dominated by severe winds in the San Fernando Valley, the Matadors came away with the big hits late to win their fourth straight game.

April 7, 2013 CSUN Erupts for 15 Runs to Complete Sweep of UC Riverside After the two teams combined for 12 total runs through the first two games of the series, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (16-15, 4-2 Big West) eclipsed the mark on their own with a 15-3 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders (14-13, 3-3 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. April 4, 2013 Matadors Take On UC Riverside, Washington at Home This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue the current homestand this week by hosting conference-rival UC Riverside in a three-game series before welcoming the University of Washington on Monday. After going 1-2 at Long Beach State last weekend to open Big West play, the Matadors will look to climb a few games in the standings this week against undefeated UCR. Following the series, Northridge will take on the Huskies for a single game before hitting the road for the team’s next eight contests.

March 30, 2013 Matadors Come Up Short in Finale at Long Beach State After falling behind early, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-14, 1-2 Big West) chipped away at the deficit but eventually fell 7-5 at the Long Beach State Dirtbags (11-16, 2-1 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at Blair Field. March 28, 2013 CSUN Wins Big West Conference Opener at Long Beach State 10-5 With a 10-5 win at Long Beach State on Thursday night at Blair Field, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-12, 1-0 Big West) earned their sixth consecutive victory and improved to 1-0 in conference play for the first time since 2002. Michael Livingston went 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored to help the Matadors power past the Dirtbags (9-16, 0-1 Big West).
March 27, 2013 Matadors Travel to Long Beach State to Open Big West Play The Cal State Northridge Matadors will open up the 2013 Big West Conference season against the Long Beach State Dirtbags this week. It will be the third consecutive season that the Matadors start conference play away from Matador Field. Long Beach was picked to finish third in the Big West in the preseason coaches poll and looks to stop a four-game slide after losses to San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton in the last two weeks.

March 25, 2013 CSUN Hosts San Diego in Final Game Before Start of Conference Play The Cal State Northridge Matadors will play their final non-conference game before the Big West season gets started as the team hosts the University of San Diego Toreros on Tuesday afternoon. The Matadors are looking to build on their current four-game winning streak and will take on a USD team that participated in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Last season, the Matadors and Toreros split a pair of games during the SDSU Aztec Invitational in early March.
March 25, 2013 Ferramola Nabs Big West Player of the Week Honor After being inserted into the lineup as a hitter for the first time this season, Cal State Northridge sophomore pitcher/designated hitter Kyle Ferramola was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Junior left-handed pitcher John Salas pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and struck out five batters to earn his first win of the season.

March 21, 2013 CSUN Meets Utah Valley University for First Time in Program History The Cal State Northridge Matadors welcome the Utah Valley University Wolverines to Matador Field for a four-game series this weekend. The Matadors and Wolverines have not previously met on the diamond. The two sides will open the series on Friday afternoon and will play a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday. The first game of the twin-billing is set to last seven inning while the second game will be a regulation nine-inning contest. The series finale will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and as part of Little League Sunday, all Little Leaguers 13 and under in uniform will receive free admission.
March 19, 2013 Matadors Defeated By CSU Bakersfield 5-3 In a game that featured a pitchers' duel throughout the afternoon, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-12) fell to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (15-6) 5-3 on Tuesday at Matador Field. Twelve of the combined 16 hits were recorded from the sixth inning on in what turned into an offensive battle in the later portion of the game.
March 18, 2013 Previously Postponed Game vs. CSU Bakersfield Rescheduled for April 1 After a rain storm forced the postponement of a midweek series between Cal State Northridge and CSU Bakersfield on February 19 and 20, 2013, both games have now been rescheduled. The game originally slated for February 20th will now be played at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 1, at Matador Field in Northridge.
March 18, 2013 CSUN Hosts CSU Bakersfield in Non-Conference Midweek Tilt After a rainstorm forced the postponement of a scheduled midweek series between the two schools in February, the Cal State Northridge Matadors and CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will finally begin their season series on Tuesday at Matador Field in Northridge. The Matadors are in the midst of a seven-game home stand to end their non-conference slate before Big West Conference play gets underway at the end of the month. Last season, Northridge took two games against the Roadrunners at Matador Field before dropping the final meeting at Hardt Field in Bakersfield last May.

March 11, 2013 CSUN Welcomes No. 11 UCLA to Matador Field in Lone Game This Week On the heels of a season-long 10-game road trip, the Cal State Northridge Matadors finally return home to Matador Field this week. The Matadors host the No. 11 UCLA Bruins on Tuesday, March 12, in their only action of the week. The game will be the first of seven straight for CSUN at home, as the Matadors will also host CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley University and San Diego before Big West Conference play opens at the end of the month. The Matadors are looking for their first win in the series against UCLA since the 2008 season when they took a 4-0 decision at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

March 1, 2013 Matadors Meet with Prominent Alumnus, NCAA Champion Irv Zakheim Ahead of their four-game series at Washington State this weekend, the Cal State Northridge baseball team met with prominent alumnus Irv Zakheim and toured the home of his international business, Zak Designs, in Spokane, Wash., on Thursday, Feb. 28. June 6, 2012 Keel Selected to 2012 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team Cal State Northridge freshman Jerry Keel was selected as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the newspaper reported Wednesday. Keel, a left-handed pitcher, was one of 31 pitchers to make the Freshmen All-American Team and was also tabbed as the Big West Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year in late May.

The Tigers scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning that proved to be the game winner.

May 23, 2012 Northridge Closes out Regular Season with Series at Pacific The Cal State Northridge Matadors conclude the 2012 regular season this weekend with a three-game series against the University of the Pacific. May 20, 2012 Keller, Roberts Lead Matadors to 6-3 Senior Day Win over UC Davis A pair of seniors came up big in their final home game for Cal State Northridge as Vincent Roberts threw three scoreless innings and Steven Keller hit a three-run home run to give the Matadors (23-26, 10-11 Big West) a 6-3 win over the UC Davis Aggies (24-29, 10-11 Big West) on Senior Day at Matador Field. April 28, 2012 Matadors Rally Twice, Defeat LBSU 6-5 in 12 Innings Twice trailing by a run in their final at-bats, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-21, 5-6 Big West) were able to keep the game going, eventually scoring the winning run in the 12th inning to knock off the Long Beach State Dirtbags (20-20, 10-4 Big West) 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. March 16, 2012 Matadors Split Doubleheader with Portland In a doubleheader played due to inclement forecasted weather, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (9-10) split a pair of games with the University of Portland Pilots (12-3) on Friday at Hilken Stadium on the campus of Concordia University. After losing the first game 8-1 in seven innings, the Matadors were able to score early and use pitching to secure a 3-1 win in the second game.

The two teams combined for 11 runs over the last three innings, as five of the game's seven errors were committed during that time.
March 13, 2012 Northridge Drops Seesaw Battle 5-4 to Rhode Island Unable to mount a late rally, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (8-8) lost 5-4 to the Rhode Island Rams (5-8) on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. A two-out two-run single by Milan Adams in the top of the seventh proved to be the game winner for the Rams.

The team will compete in both the IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama City, Panama, Oct. 2-15 and Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct. 20-25.

August 25, 2011 Adam Barry Named to Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA Cal State Northridge Matador outfielder Adam Barry has been named to the Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA, the organization announced Thursday. Barry was one of 48 national players selected to the team and one of just three players from the Big West Conference to earn the honor.
