NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
With final exams fast approaching, the Cal State Northridge baseball program is coming together for a final time prior to the holidays to watch "Invictus," the 2009 Academy Award-nominated film about the events leading up to and during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa. The team will gather at the USU Theater in the University Student Union on campus on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 2:15 p.m.
The movie is based on the book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation and tells the story about Mandela and South Africa following the dismantling of apartheid in the country.
"This is a great opportunity for our team to get together and bond while we learn more about Nelson Mandela and the role that he played in the world," said CSUN head coach Greg Moore. "It is a tragedy that the world lost such a noble, inspirational and heroic figure this week."
Those interested in joining the team to watch the film are asked to RSVP with Robert Abel at firstname.lastname@example.org
