Cal State Northridge women's basketball freshman Marta Masoni has made an immediate impact for the Matadors through nine games in the 2012-13 season. Originally from Taranto, Italy, Masoni leads the Matadors in scoring at 14.3 points per game and has knocked down a Big West Conference high 27 3-pointers.
Masoni has been an offensive threat for the Matadors since stepping onto the hard wood this year. She scored 17 points, including five 3-pointers, in CSUN's season-opening win over Portland. She had another five 3-pointers in Northridge's loss to Penn State and has had three games where she's hit three 3-pointers. For the season, Masoni is shooting 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from downtown.
Aside from her proficiency in scoring the basketball, Masoni is averaging 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. She also leads the Matadors in minutes, having played 321 through the first nine contests for an average of 35.7 per game.
