Women's Student-Athlete of the Week: Sydney Gedryn, Volleyball

Cal State Northridge junior Sydney Gedryn had an outstanding weekend as the Matadors defeated Pacific and UC Davis in a pair of key Big West Conference matches. 

Originally from San Jose, Calif., Gedryn posted nine kills, 42 assists and 10 digs as CSUN posted a five-set victory over Pacific. She also had 4.5 blocks (two block solos, five block assists) against the Tigers. 

In the match against UC Davis, Gedryn added eighth kills to a team-high 49 assists. She hit .471 in 17 swings against the Aggies and also had five digs and five block assists. 

For the season, Gedryn is averaging nearly 10 assists a set while also standing third on the team with 182 digs. She is also second on the team with 97 total blocks and has 111 kills while hitting .274 for the year.
