Sophomore midfielder David Turcios was instrumental in Cal State
Northridge's victories this weekend. Turcios came on as a
substitute in both matches as the Matadors defeated Central
Arkansas and then-No. 9 New Mexico to claim the championship of the
2013 TLC Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Lobo Invitational in
Turcios put in his best statistical showing of the season in CSUN's historic 3-2 upset over the Lobos. He scored the first goal of the match in the 28th minute after cleaning up a rebound in front of goal. After New Mexico cut the Northridge lead to 2-1, Turcios assisted on a goal by Sagi Lev-Ari that stood up as the game winner. With the win, the Matadors defeated the Lobos in Albuquerque for the first time in school history.
The midfielder picked up his first goal and assist of the season and now has three points on the year.
