Men's Student-Athlete of the Week - Goalkeeper Michael Abalos, Soccer

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - 

Goalkeeper Michael Abalos played a key role in the Matadors’ matches this past week against UNLV and No. 2 Akron. Although Northridge trailed in both matches and eventually lost in overtime, Abalos made key saves late to keep the Matadors in the match and allow them to force extra time. 

Against the Rebels, Abalos had two saves as Northridge rallied for a late goal to tie the score. Against the defending national champion Zips, the junior out of San Juan Capistrano made 12 saves, seven of which came with CSUN down a man and a goal. Northridge would tie the game with less than 10 minutes to play and Abalos was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Cal State Northridge Labor Day Classic last weekend.
