Men's Student-Athlete of the Week - Nate Ring, Baseball

Junior outfielder Nate Ring came up in a big way for the Matadors this week, twice helping Northridge win games over the UC Irvine Anteaters. Ring had a hit in each of the final two games of the series, both times connecting for the game-winning RBI.

On Saturday, Ring went 1-for-4 at the plate and scored a run while driving in two. In the bottom of the fifth inning, he laced a double into the left field corner to score a pair of runs and give the Matadors a 5-1 lead in a game they would go on to win 6-3.  He also stole his seventh base of the season, which places him first on the team.

In Sunday’s finale, Ring again went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. He hit a sacrifice fly early in the game and later came through with a walkoff single to left center field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. With the win, the Matadors took the season series from UC Irvine for the first time since 2004.
