Men's Student-Athlete of the Week - Stephan Hicks, Basketball

Freshman guard Stephan Hicks rebounded from a season-low eight points against Cal Poly last week to lead the Matadors in scoring in both games this week. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. product averaged 22.0 points per game, helping Northridge to a 1-1 week and a road non-conference victory over CSU Bakersfield, the program’s first win at CSUB since 1990.

Against Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Hicks recorded a double-double with 18 points, making 1-of-2 three-pointers and 9-of-10 free throw attempts, and 10 rebounds (five offensive and five defensive). He added a steal and an assist in 29 minutes off of the bench.

In the win at CSU Bakersfield, Hicks scored a season-high 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting (72.7 percent) with a three-pointer. He also made 9-of-10 free throw attempts and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead all players in scoring. For the season, Hicks has failed to score in double digits on only one occasion. He is averaging 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and is shooting 82.5 percent from the free throw line.
