Steven Grech, an alumnus of Cal State Northridge, is in his third year as the Director of Sports Medicine.

Serves as the men's basketball athletic trainer in addition to overseeing the medical care for all CSUN student-athletes...Prior to becoming the Director of Sports Medicine, Grech served one year as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer at CSUN (2005-2006)

From 2002 to 2005, he was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Southern California where he was a part of two consecutive National Championship teams in football...In 1999 to 2002, Grech was an assistant athletic trainer at Cal State Northridge working primarily with men's basketball and football...Also served one year as the head football athletic trainer at the University of San Diego (1998-99) ... Earned his Master's degree in Biomechanics from San Diego State in 1998 following two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Aztec football and baseball teams

He also gained NFL and NHL experience while working as a summer camp athletic training intern for the Oakland Raiders (1995-97) and the Los Angeles Kings (1995)...In 1995, he earned a B.A. in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge while serving as an undergraduate student athletic trainer for three years working primarily with the football and women's basketball teams...Has been an NATABOC certified athletic trainer since 1995...Resides in Chatsworth with his Donna and daughter, Olivia.

Sarah Lyons begins her seventh year as a member of the Cal State Northridge Sports Medicine staff in 2008 and her fifth year as an assistant athletic trainer.

Works primarily with the Matador women's basketball and men's volleyball teams and has also previously worked with the women's soccer, women's tennis, women's water polo, men's and women's swimming and diving and softball teams...

Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of athletic training students in ATEP and is involved in pre-participation physical screenings and NCAA compliance meetings. Along with managing, evaluating and treating athletes for all 20 sports at Northridge...Manages the nutritional counseling program and insurance claims for Matador student-athletes .. Also serves as the head athletic trainer for the Premier Development League's San Fernando Valley Quakes (men's soccer), as well as the Los Angeles Rampage of the Women's Premier Soccer League...She has also worked as a member of the Northridge Soccer Academy for three summer...

Lyons' tenure at Northridge began as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 2002 to 2004. During those two years, she worked with the women's soccer, men's volleyball and softball teams...Lyons earned her master of arts degree in kinesiology from Cal State Northridge in May 2004 and performed her undergraduate work at San Diego State where she received her bachelor of science in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training in 2001...

While at San Diego State, Lyons was a student athletic trainer for four years, working with the football, softball, women's volleyball and women's crew teams...Lyons, who is currently working on her performance enhancement specialists credential through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) since April 2002 and currently resides in Brentwood.

Erick Buitrago arrived in November of 2006 and was the women's basketball athletic trainer for the 2006-07 season.

He currently works with the men's soccer, baseball, and men's and women's swim teams...Was an athletic training student at CSUN from 2000-02 and worked with the last Matador football team in 2001, and the 2002 men's soccer team that qualified for their first ever trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament...Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an option in Athletic Training...From 2003-05, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Southern Illinois University...Worked with the Saluki baseball team, and the swimming and diving teams

• He also received a Masters degree in Sport Management and Social Psychology of Sport at SIU...In 2005-06, served as an assistant athletic trainer at Indiana State University working specifically with the Sycamore baseball, softball and women's soccer teams...In December of 2007, was the on-set athletic director for the first season of the new American Gladiators...Played two years of college baseball at Los Angeles Valley College...During the summer of 2007, pitched for the Kenosha Kroakers of the prestigious Northwoods Woodbat League in Kenosha, Wi...Graduated locally from Chatsworth High School where he lettered in both varsity baseball and basketball for the Chancellors.

Yoshi Shiratori began his tenure at Cal State Northridge in November, 2007, as Assistant Athletic Trainer.

He joined the staff after serving four years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Stony Brook University in New York...At Stony Brook, Shiratori served as the primary athletic trainer for women's basketball and baseball...Helped with prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all Seawolves athletic teams

Prior to joining Stony Brook, he served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Niagara University working primarily for the women's ice hockey team...Received his bachelor's degree in English Literature from Doshisha University in Japan and in Exercise Science from State University of New York, Buffalo (2001)...Completed his master's degree in Exercise Science (Exercise, Nutrition and Eating Behavior track) from George Washington in August of 2003...While at George Washington he was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer serving for women's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's tennis, as well as performed secondary duties with men's crew and men's and women's squash...He was also a Teaching Assistant in the Athletic Training Education Program, teaching several athletic training classes

Shiratori has been a NATABOC certified athletic trainer since 2001...He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2002...Shiratori shares responsibility for overall operation of the Athletic Training Room, specifically implementing rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes...In addition, he is also an Approved Clinical Instructor in the Athletic Training Education Program...Shiratori's primary sport assignments are Women's Soccer and Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country.

Dunford Rodill, an alumnus of Cal State Northridge, is joining the staff as a graduate assistant athletic trainer

His primary sports coverage will include women's volleyball, softball, and women's tennis ... In May 2008 he earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from CSUN in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training ... While serving as an undergraduate student athletic trainer, he gained experience while working with the women's soccer team (Spring 2008) at CSUN ... He also spent time serving as the student athletic trainer with the NCAA champion women's soccer team at USC (Fall 2007) ... In July 2007, Rodill interned with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, a minor league baseball affiliate of the Florida Marlins ... Rodill will be working on his Master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in biomechanics.
