Steven Grech, an alumnus of Cal State Northridge, is in his ninth year as the Director of Sports Medicine.

Grech serves as the men's basketball athletic trainer in addition to overseeing the medical care for all CSUN student-athletes.

Prior to becoming the Director of Sports Medicine, Grech served one year as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer at CSUN (2005-2006).

From 2002 to 2005, he was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Southern California where he was a part of two consecutive National Championship teams in football.

In 1999 to 2002, Grech was an assistant athletic trainer at Cal State Northridge working primarily with men's basketball and football. He also served one year as the head football athletic trainer at the University of San Diego (1998-99). He also gained NFL and NHL experience while working as a summer camp athletic training intern for the Oakland Raiders (1995-97) and the Los Angeles Kings (1995)

In 1995, he earned a B.A. in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge while serving as an undergraduate student athletic trainer for three years working primarily with the football and women's basketball teams. He earned his Master's degree in Biomechanics from San Diego State in 1998 following two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Aztec football and baseball teams Has been an NATABOC certified athletic trainer since 1995.

Steve resides in Chatsworth with his wife, Donna, and daughter, Olivia.

Erick Buitrago arrived in November of 2006 and was the women's basketball athletic trainer for the 2006-07 season.

He currently works with the men's soccer, baseball, and men's and women's golf teams...Was an athletic training student at CSUN from 2000-02 and worked with the last Matador football team in 2001, and the 2002 men's soccer team that qualified for their first ever trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament...Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an option in Athletic Training...From 2003-05, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Southern Illinois University...Worked with the Saluki baseball team, and the swimming and diving teams

He also received a Masters degree in Sport Management and Social Psychology of Sport at SIU...In 2005-06, served as an assistant athletic trainer at Indiana State University working specifically with the Sycamore baseball, softball and women's soccer teams...In December of 2007, was the on-set athletic trainer for the first season of the new American Gladiators...Played two years of college baseball at Los Angeles Valley College...During the summer of 1997, pitched for the Kenosha Kroakers of the prestigious Northwoods Woodbat League in Kenosha, Wi...Graduated locally from Chatsworth High School where he lettered in both varsity baseball and basketball for the Chancellors.

Winnie Voong joined the CSUN Sports Medicine Staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in August of 2013.

Voong works with the women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s track and field teams. Prior to coming to CSUN, Voong served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at UC Riverside from 2010-2013. Her primary sports responsibilities at UCR included women’s soccer and men’s and women’s track and field. While at UCR, she was also a preceptor for the California Baptist University Athletic Training Education Program.

In 2010, Voong completed her Master’s of Science in Athletic Training at California Baptist University and was awarded the “Most Outstanding Student in Athletic Training” honors. At CBU, she worked with various sports teams at the NAIA, Junior College and NCAA Division I levels. She served as the graduate student to the 2010 UC Riverside Women’s Basketball Big West Tournament Championship team. Voong earned her Bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine in 2007, where she was also a member of the UC Irvine Sports Medicine Staff. She assisted with the 2007 National Championship Men’s Volleyball team as a student, and later worked as a staff intern during the 2007-2008 school year. She helped UCI host the 2008 NCAA Division I Men’s Volleyball National Championships and the 2008 Big West Conference Basketball Tournament.

Voong is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the College Athletic Trainers’ Society. She remains active in the athletic training community by serving as a Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association Public Relations Committee Member. She currently resides in Arcadia, CA.

Ramzy Assaf, an alumnus of California State University, Northridge, enters his second year as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer.

His primary sports coverage includes Baseball and assisting with men’s soccer.

He completed his undergraduate studies at CSUN as a member of the Athletic Training Education Program, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training in May 2013, graduating Cum Laude, and serving two semesters as President of the CSUN Athletic Training Club.

As an undergraduate athletic training student, Ramzy gained experience working with USC Baseball (Spring 2013), CSUN Track and Field (Spring 2012), and the football teams at both Glendale Community College and West Los Angeles College (Fall 2012 and 2013).

He is currently working on his Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics, looking to graduate in Spring 2015.

Laura Bepko joined the CSUN Sports Medicine staff as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer in August 2014. Bepko is an alumnus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg VA, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2014. She gained clinical experience working with Spostwood High School Athletics and JMU’s Division I Women’s Soccer, Cheer, and Football teams as well as the Track and Field team during the 2014 CAA Championship.

At CSUN, Laura will serve as the Athletic Trainer for the Women’s Volleyball and Track and Field teams. She is also actively pursuing her Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Biomechanics.

Tracy Castrejana is entering her second year as graduate assistant athletic trainer on the CSUN Sports Medicine Staff. Castrejana comes from Houston, Texas. She attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts as an undergraduate and received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in May 2013. Tracy previously served a 6-month internship with the CSUN Sports Medicine Staff in the spring of 2011 assisting with men’s volleyball and women’s tennis.

She has gained clinical experience from multiple internship sites from various teams including ice hockey, lacrosse, crew, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, tennis, ballet, and football. Tracy will be working with men’s and women’s cross country and women’s water polo. She will also be pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Biomechanics.

Matt Comer, an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, is entering his second year at CSUN as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in 2014. 

Matt gained a wide range of clinical experience from 2010-2013 by interning with the Cincinnati Bengals, University of Cincinnati (Baseball, Women’s Soccer, Football, and Men’s and Women’s Track and Field), St. Xavier and Walnut Hills High School.

Matt has been a member of the National Athletic Trainer’ Association since 2011 along with Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association, Great Lakes Athletic Training Association, and Greater Cincinnati Athletic Trainer Association (2010). 

Here at CSUN, Matt will serve as the athletic trainer to softball as well as assist with women’s soccer. He is working towards his Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in biomechanics.

Habib Toubedjian enters his second year as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at CSUN in 2014.

Toubedjian is a Cal State Northridge alumnus, receiving his BS in athletic training in 2011. During his time at Northridge he gained clinical experience working with all fall and springs sports at the high school, junior college, and division one university level.  He also has experience working with men’s and women’s USTA southern section. Toubedjian also competed as a student-athlete in cross country and track and field while attending Los Angeles Valley College.

Here at CSUN, Toubejian will be working primarily men’s volleyball and assisting with women’s tennis and men’s and women’s track and field.

Simona Hradil is an insightful, supportive sports nutritionist known for her sound nutrition advice and innovative ideas to inspire and motivate you to reach your goals. Drawing on her years of personal and professional experience, an alternate for the 2012 London Olympic Games, an eleven-time US National Taekwondo and a five-time Czech Republic National Taekwondo Team Member, she has traveled all over the world competing in elite tournaments and training with other top tier athletes. While living at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and serving as Team Capitan for three years, she had hands on experience working under the guidance of the country’s best athletic staff and facility aimed at improving her goals as an athlete.

Simona previously worked with five varsity teams at California State University, Northridge including: Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis, Women’s Water Polo, and Softball utilizing the BOD POD to measure their body fat and provide nutritional interventions. She also participated in a California State grant titled “Let’s Cook & Move In Schools,” where she partnered with the Kinesiology Department in providing nutrition education and physical fitness in low-income schools in the San Fernando Valley. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas, Dallas and completed the Didactic Program in Dietetics from California State University, Northridge.  She is currently working on her master’s thesis titled: The Effect of Individualized Nutrition Counseling on California State University, Northridge Student Athletes’ Diet, Eating Patterns, and Performance and participating in a Dietetic Internship, where after completion will earn her a Registered Dietitian License. Simona Hradil is passionate about the well-being of student-athletes and the championship experience.
