Bob Vazquez recently completed his sixth season as Assistant
Athletic Director (Media Relations) at Cal State Northridge in
2012-13 ... Has worked in college athletics over a span of five
decades starting in 1977 at UC Santa Barbara (1977-83), then onto
Stanford University (1983-2007) and now at Cal State Northridge
(2007-present) ... Oversees the publicity efforts of the Matador's
18-sport intercollegiate athletic program, with a main emphasis on
men's basketball, women's water polo and the website ... A member
of the CSUN Hall of Fame Committee ... Worked nearly 24 years
(1983-2007) as Media Relations Director at Stanford University ...
Winner of 20 press guide awards by CoSIDA ... Received a CoSIDA
25-year Award in 2003 ... Has been media coordinator at numerous
NCAA National and Regional Tournaments as well as many Pac-12
Championships ... Spent six years (1977-83) as Sports Information
Director at UC Santa Barbara ... Prior to UCSB, held various
positions in the broadcasting industry (KSDO Radio, KFMB-TV,

Completed his fourth season (2012-13) on the CSUN staff after
working two years in the media relations office at the University
of Kansas ... Responsibilities at Kansas included track &
field, cross country, and assisted with men's and women's
basketball, football, softball, women's volleyball and women's
soccer ... Earned his BA degree in Secondary English Education in
2004 from the University of Arizona, and his Master's degree in
Sports Studies at the University of Kansas in 2006.

Kevin Strauss recently completed his third season at Cal State
Northridge in 2012-13 ... Joined the media relations staff after
earning his BA degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public
Relations from Cal State Northridge in the fall of 2010 ...
Interned with the media relations department at CSUN during the
summer and fall of 2010 ... As a student, won the 2010 California
College Media Association (CCMA) award for Best Online Promotion
and was runner-up in Best Use of Social Media while working at the

Braden Villanueva completed his 12th season (2012-13) as art
director/digital media director at Cal State Northridge ...
His responsibilities include the design and production of the
athletic department publications as well as photography at various
events and new resonsibilities as digital media director ... Braden
began working with the department as a freelance graphic artist in
1996 ... He has earned numerous honors including various regional
awards as well as nine CoSIDA "Best in the Nation" awards ... Prior
to CSUN, Villanueva served as art director for Ventura County
Parent and a monthly trade magazine, as well as associate art
director for Junior Baseball magazine ... He also worked as a
graphic artist for the city of Beverly Hills, Department of
Recreation and Parks ... Braden earned his Bachelor of Arts degree
in Cinema-Television Arts with an emphasis in Television Production
from CSUN in 1997 ... Braden, his wife, Lily, their son, Jaden, and

Gametracker:
A live statistical account of every home baseball, basketball,
softball, and men's and women's volleyball contest is scheduled to
be available online at GoMatadors.com. Check GoMatadors.com for an
updated schedule.
Media Memo:
The Cal State Northridge Media Relations Office can provide media
members with biographical information on coaches and
student-athletes, historical and statistical information, media
guides, photographs and much more. Please contact the Matadors
Media Relations Office to obtain this information.
Internet Access:
The press areas for all Matador athletics venues all have reliable
functioning wireless internet access. Please contact the media
relations contact for each sport for more information and an access
user name and password.
All coach and student-athlete interviews should be directed
through the media relations contact for each sport. Coaches and
players are normally available for post-game interviews at a
location arranged by the media relations contact approximately 10
minutes after each contest.
Interviews:
Media members should inform the media relations contact which
players are requested for post-game interviews. For post-game
interviews with opponents, please contact the media relations
contact representing the visiting team. For all other non-game day
Cal State Northridge interviews, please contact the media relations
sports contact to arrange a convenient time for all parties.
Media Credentials:
Requests for all media credentials should be addressed to the
media relations contact for each sport via email, fax, or phone.
Credentials will be mailed if time permits or can be picked up at
Media Will Call at the designated Media Will Call location at the
athletic venue. Arrangements to pick up credentials at another time
or date can be made by contacting the media relations contact for
each sport.
Photography Credentials:
Photo passes are available to accredited media only and should be
ordered in the same manner as media credentials. Passes should be
worn in plain sight at all times.
Media Guides:
Media guides for Cal State Northridge athletic teams are produced
for nearly every sport. Media guides are made available on the Cal
State Northridge website (www.gomatadors.com).
Practices:
Please contact the media relations contact for each sport to find
out policies for media attending practices for each specific
team.
Press Areas:
Press areas vary by facility. Please contact the media relations
contact for each sport to obtain information regarding the press
area for each facility.
Press Releases:
Press releases with detailed information on Cal State Northridge
teams will be produced on a regular basis. All press releases will
be available at www.gomatadors.com, emailed to media members upon
request and provided at events. To be added to a media email list,
please contact the media relations contact for each sport.
Press Services:
Press releases, game day programs, media guides, starting lineups
and other relevant media materials will be provided to members of
the media. An NCAA box score and play-by-play (if requested) will
be available approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of each
game. In addition, drinks and food (for selected teams and games)
will be provided to credentialed members of the media.
Television Coverage:
Several Cal State Northridge athletic events are televised by a
variety of television stations. Check the GoMatadors.com page for
an updated schedule.
Media Parking:
Media parking passes will only be issued when prior notice is
given to the sport's Sports Information Director. For weekend games
(Saturday and Sunday), please submit a request for parking by the
preceding Friday at noon. For all other days (Monday through
Friday), please submit your request no later than 24 hours prior to
the start of the contest. Parking passes cannot be guaranteed for
requests not falling into these time frames.
Radio/Television Lines:
Visiting radio stations (non-league opponents) must make
arrangements through the Athletic Media Relations Office at least
two weeks prior to the game. There will be a $35 charge
(non-conference opponents only) for use of the telephone line
provided for radio, and ALL calls must be either collect or billed
to a calling credit card.
