Howard Garcia enters his 29th year of service at Cal State Northridge and his 20th year as the Events Manager for the Cal State Northridge Matadors.

Garcia joined the Matador staff in 1982 as an Instructional Support Technician and Youth Summer Camp Director. He served in both capacities until the 1990 season when the Intercollegiate Athletic Department split as the Matadors made their transition to NCAA Division I status.

Since becoming the Events Manager, Garcia has served in numerous post-season tournaments and championship events hosted by the Matadors, with the most recent being the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Western Regional and the 2005 NCAA Men's Soccer Championships.

Garcia earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education in 1980 from Long Beach State, where he played baseball for three years.

After attaining his degree, Garcia coached baseball for two years (1980-82) at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, Calif. He also served as a substitute teacher during his tenure at Edison.
