Rick Mazzuto Steps Down as Cal State Northridge Athletic Director
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Rick Mazzuto has stepped
down as Athletic Director at Cal State Northridge, effectively
immediately.
The announcement was made Wednesday morning
by Tom McCarron, Vice President for Administration and
Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
“I am appreciative of Rick’s commitment
to the intercollegiate athletic program at Cal State Northridge and
to the University during his six-year tenure,”
said McCarron. Mazzuto was named Cal State
Northridge Athletic Director on August 3, 2006, becoming the
seventh athletic director in Matador history.
“During the past several years, the progress of
CSUN Athletics has been marked by several areas of improvement
including a positive progression in the APR (academic progress
rate) of several Matador teams and upgrades to our athletic
facilities. The University is committed to elevating CSUN
Athletics and we look forward to even greater success in the
future.”
Ashlie Kite, Associate Athletic Director of Internal
Operations at CSUN Athletics since 2004, will serve as
Administrator in Charge of Athletics while a search is conducted,
which will commence immediately.
“This is an important search as we face the
challenges associated with the expansion and increased competition
in the Big West Conference,” said McCarron.
