NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
In its continued pursuit towards comprehensive excellence and its dedication to student-athlete success, California State University, Northridge’s Athletics Department is launching the Matador Excellence Fund, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Brandon E. Martin announced Friday.
All contributions to the Matador Excellence Fund will go directly to supporting scholarships for student-athletes in all 18 varsity programs at CSUN.
“The private support received from donors will enable the Athletics Department to provide deserving student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful in their respective sports, in the classroom, and in the community,” said Dr. Martin. “Increasing the number of memberships in the Matador Excellence Fund is critical to building an economic model that will support the long-term growth of CSUN Athletics.”
Matador Excellence Fund (MEF) memberships begin at $50 and increase in levels based on the generosity of the MEF supporter. Exclusive member benefits include, but are not limited to, priority seating, reserved parking, pre-game hospitality and opportunities to travel with a Matador team for away game competitions.
The Matador Excellence Fund will utilize a priority point system to reward donor loyalty to CSUN Athletics. Each donor’s priority points total will be taken into account when distributing and allocating benefits. Donors can earn two points for each continuous year of season tickets (sport specific) and for every $100 donated to Matador Athletics during the current year.
CSUN Alumni and former student-athletes that join the Matador Excellence Fund will receive two points instantly while current and retired CSUN faculty and staff members will receive one point.
“After many conversations with our fans, supporters, and potential Matador Excellence Fund members, establishing this fund was imperative,” added Dr. Martin. “It is important for us to create a culture of giving towards scholarships for student-athletes.”
All donations are tax deductible and supporters are asked to consult their tax advisor for information.
