Northridge, Calif. - A key senior staff position in the Cal State Northridge Athletic Department has been filled with the appointment of Megan Marconi Norman as Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics.

Marconi Norman's appointment was announced by Vance Peterson, Vice-President for University Advancement.

"Megan's background as a collegiate athlete and significant prior development experience in higher education, including two years at CSUN, made her the ideal choice," said Peterson. "We are delighted she is joining the new leadership team for CSUN Athletics."

Marconi Norman's position will focus primarily in the area of fund raising for Matador Athletics.

"This is a pivotal senior staff position, and we are excited to have Megan join the Matador athletic family," said Rick Mazzuto, CSUN Athletic Director. "Fund raising has become a vital part of an athletic department's success, and Megan's expertise and knowledge in this area will help increase our visibility in many areas of the department, the university and the community. Megan has already participated in formulating the new advancement plan for Athletics."

Since 2005, Marconi Norman has served simultaneously in the roles of Assistant Director of Major Gifts and Assistant Director of the Imagine the Arts Campaign at Cal State Northridge.

Prior to her arrival at Cal State Northridge, Marconi Norman was the Director of Development for The Wellness Community - West Los Angeles for five years.

Marconi Norman also worked as the Annual Giving Supervisor and Financial Programs Analyst at Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa. Her duties at Villanova included participation in the development, implementation and evaluation of the university's three million dollar annual giving program.

Marconi Norman began her career as a development consultant and grant writer for The Civil War Museum and Library in Philadelphia.

Marconi Norman is no stranger to athletics. She was a standout track & field athlete (school record holder in the high jump) at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Politics. She also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Villanova.

"I am extremely excited to join the Matador Athletic Family," said Marconi Norman. "This is an athletic department with a hard working group of coaches, student-athletes and administrators. The potential for future success for Cal State Northridge Athletics is unlimited."
