Matador Madness Returns to The Matadome Friday, Oct. 18

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -

For the first time since 2009, Matador Madness returns to The Matadome. On Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m., the Cal State Northridge Matador Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will take to the court for Matador Madness.

The event will kick off the 2013-2014 basketball seasons and allow fans a chance to preview the teams and meet the coaching staffs, including new Matador Men’s Basketball Head Coach Reggie Theus. Basketball Madness, hosted at some schools at midnight, is an annual event that celebrates the first day in mid-October that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) permits formal basketball practices each college basketball season.

Matador Madness is free and open to the public. There will be an pre-event fun zone on the Matadome Plaza starting at 6:00 p.m. that will include games, prizes, and free food for CSUN students. Athletes from Matador sports teams will be part of the pre-event party and available to meet fans, take pictures and sign autographs, including members of the softball, track and field, baseball, and women’s water polo teams.

This year’s madness event will feature DJ Malski (Jamal Mcoy) and guest host Kel Mitchell from the Nickelodeon sitcom "Kenan and Kel."

Parking on campus for the event is $6 per car and parking is enforced at all times.
