Kevin Zihlman Named Director of Compliance
Cal State Northridge Associate Athletic Director Ashlie Kite announced today that after a full search, Kevin Zihlman has been named to the post of director of compliance, to which he has already reported. Zihlman replaces Darryl Pope who vacated the position on Dec. 17, 2004.
"We are privileged to have been able to obtain the professional services of Mr. Zihlman," Kite said. "He made an exceptional impression on everyone involved in the search process. His résumé reflects a comprehensive knowledge of those areas traditionally within the scope of director of compliance and he is a welcomed addition to our compliance program."
Zihlman comes to Cal State Northridge from the University of Iowa, where he served the past year as a graduate assistant in the Hawkeyes' Athletic Student Services/Compliance Office. While at Iowa, he assisted the compliance staff with the preparation of NCAA reports and summaries, prepared certified eligibility lists for the Big Ten Conference and completed many other related duties as assigned.
Prior to his stint at Iowa, Zihlman served as a certification specialist for the NCAA Clearinghouse from October 1999 to August 2003. While with the NCAA Clearinghouse, he performed academic evaluations for prospective student-athletes at NCAA Division I and II member institutions. He also evaluated domestic and foreign transcripts in order to determine NCAA initial eligibility for prospective student-athletes. Zihlman also had the task of training new employees in regard to NCAA procedures and policies.
Zihlman earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois in 1999 and attained his master's degree from the University of Iowa in 2005.
