Northridge, Calif. - Cal State Northridge student-athletes are not only competitive athletes and excellent students, they are also community minded.
Whenever there is an important community event, you can most likely find a Matador team or a large group of CSUN student-athletes who support the merits and positive work that is often accomplished in the Valley.
On Friday, April 15, CSUN student-athletes will join students at Granada Elementary School at the 13th Annual Earth Day Walk.
The event will take play from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Both groups will celebrate the day by walking the streets of Granada Hills to make the community and businesses award of Earth Day 2011. Approximately 60 walkers, including 2nd and 3rd graders, their parents and teachers, will be participating in the walk as part of learning about ecosystems, the earth and the environment.
Cal State Northridge student-athletes will join the students as they talk to business owners and ask them to put signs in their windows to remind the community about Earth Day 2011.
The students will start their walk at Granada Elementary School and make their way to Chatsworth St. (near Encino Ave), walk to Zelzah Avenue on one side of the street, and then walk back down to the other side of Chatsworth St.
Children, parents, teachers, and CSUN student-athletes will be walking with sandwich boards and streamers. They will be picking up trash, putting signs in business windows, giving out handmade globes, and just having FUN!!!
