The Northridge track and field complex is one of the finest training and competition venues in the state of California. The 400M track is nine lanes and considered very fast. The current surface was applied in 1997 by Southwest Industries. The track is oriented in a North/South alignment to take advantage of either of the most common prevailing wind conditions.

The steeplechase barriers are fully adjustable to accommodate female participants. The north end of the complex has an expansive area for the high jump, with enough room to run two pits simultaneously. There are four horizontal jump pits situated in each corner of the infield, allowing either long jump or triple jump to be contested with favorable winds. The pole vault pit can be set up to vault with either a north or south tailwind.

There are two shot put rings, and a discus ring on each end of the infield.

The javelin runway is at the North end of the facility, adjacent to the high jump area. Hammer is conducted just north of the track at North Campus Stadium.

The track is located in a bowl shaped depression with festival seating for 5,000 plus. Portable bleachers can be brought in for major events, like the Northridge relays, Big West Championships and NCAA Regionals.
