ACADEMICS

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR ACADEMICS?
As a student athlete your first and foremost responsibility is to your education. You are responsible for following all university guidelines and policies regarding academic eligibility, registration, financial aid, etc.

ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility is limited to four (4) years of collegiate participation.

GPA REQUIREMENTS
You must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to maintain status on the team.

CREDIT ENROLLMENT
You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours at CSUN to remain eligible. **Should you drop below 12 credits, you will be in violation of the eligibility requirements and your status on the team may be terminated. Should you be terminated during the season, you will NOT be eligible for membership the following year.

MID-TERM REPORTS
All members of the squad are required to turn in mid-term reports for all registered courses. Failure to do so will result in alternate status.

ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT
All proven incidents of academic fraud should will be handled exclusively by the athletic department and the CSUN Student Conduct Code Office in accordance with its policies applicable to all CSUN students. Academic Misconduct can be defined as but not limited to: 1) Any time an institutional staff member (e.g., coach, professor, tutor, teaching assistant) is knowingly involved in arranging fraudulent academic credit or false transcripts enrolled student-athlete, regardless of whether the institutional staff member acted alone or in concert with the enrolled student-athlete. 2) Any time a student-athlete, acting alone or in concert with others, knowingly becomes involved in arranging fraudulent academic credit or false transcripts. 3) If a student-athlete acting alone or in concert, commits an academic offense (e.g., cheating on a test, assignment, plagiarism on a term paper or assist another student-athlete in that manner).

MANDATORY STUDY HALL
Are you required to be in study hall?
YES, if you are...

  • Incoming freshman
  • Transfer student with below a 2.75 GPA
  • All team members below a 2.5 GPA

You must complete 8 hours of study hall per week to maintain your eligibility. Also included in mandatory study hall is participation in the CHAMPS Life Skills workshops (if you attend, 2 hours will be counted towards your hours.)
